Armband Charger works via Kinetic Energy

Orange has announced the launch of a mobile phone charger prototype that is powered by dance energy.

The company says the Orange Dance Charge is the result of months of research into alternate, sustainable energy sources to power mobile phones during summer music festivals.

Working with renewable energy company, GotWind, who are also responsible for this year’s Orange ReCharge Pod, Orange says it “commissioned the research into a kinetic energy portable phone charger that would harness the energy created by festival revellers dancing to their favourite bands to ensure a clean and renewable energy source”. Neverlate Executive Alarm Clock

Firebox has launched the Neverlate Executive Alarm Clock that they describe as a “remarkably clever alarm clock that will wake you up on time, every time you like”.

An upgrade from a previous model, the Neverlate executive alarm now features two separate 7-day banks of alarms, so that sleepers can wake up at any moment on any day of the week whilst their respective bed-friend can wake up independently using their own alarm times.

There’s also the extra option of 7 daily reminder alarms that can go off at programmed times throughout the day which adds up to 21 different alarms in total.

Alarm duration and backlight brightness can be customised and the Neverlate also features a gradual wake mode as well as “descending” snooze that means each time you press it the snooze time is cut in half.

The Neverlate houses a digital FM/AM radio with 20 programmable station presets. In addition there’s four buzzer tones, Aux In and a USB port too.

The Hood.e for the Techie

Teenagers seem to wear hoodies to not only hide bad haircuts but also block out the world around them, and this latest fashion fad achieves just that.

The Hood.e is a hoodie jumper with integrated speakers, so you can plug in your iPod or musical device of your choice and listen as you pound the streets looking annoyed.

This latest audio, though, will not doubt become as popular with the general public, as they brave public transport, as boom boxes were.

Cup it, the “Music Mug” speaker

Designer Masato Tokuno has created what looks like an “innocent” ceramic mug but actually hides a speaker inside to use with a portable audio device.

Just plug your chosen portable jukebox in, drop the device inside, and carry your music with you wherever you go.

Available in black and white for $69.99, the sites states: “And just to clarify; no, you can’t use it for coffee too.”

Banana-shaped USB drive spotted

Unlike most novelty USB offerings, the fruity incarnation does at least offer a decent 8GB capacity…

Hantat(www.hantat.com) presented its banana shaped USB flash drive ‘HK8093’ during China Sourcing Fairs at AsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong, organized by Global Sources(NASDAQ: GSOL). Featuring its rubber case, it supports up to 8GB capacity.
